Dear Editor,
The [commentary] “In All Things Charity” in Susquehanna LINK Winter 2013/2014 (link) seemed to say what a church thinks about sin is a non-essential.
This Christian [sister] “alludes” to homosexuality being a “grey” issue.” But it is not grey to the Bible.
To a confused culture much is grey.
The Bible is clear not only in Genesis 19, Leviticus 18, Romans 1, 1 Corinthians 6, 1 Timothy 1, and in Jude 5-7 but also all throughout [about] THE standard for family relationships — of faithfulness in marriage (between a man and woman) and celibacy in singleness is clearly upheld.
I totally disagree with the [commentary's] relegating of issues of sin and righteousness, church discipline and ultimately Biblical authority to the realm of non-essentials. If whether a person is in sin or not or the nature of marriage is non-essential then this world is blind, deaf and dumb, indeed.
Lord may the church not be so unclear. May God grant us grace to hold to the truth in a crooked and depraved generation in which we are to shine like stars.
God bless you all as you pray over these tough issues and seek to serve a God of love and a God of Holiness who says to His people “Be ye Holy as I am Holy.”
Blessings in Jesus Christ,
Pastor Stacy, First UMC Greencastle
