Continue Your Mission: Rev. Peter Geschwindner

Rev. Peter Geschwindner
Wearing many hats over the years, the Rev. Peter F. Geschwindner has a very long history of service at Albright Care Services.

Peter graduated from Albright College in Reading, Pa., in 1974 and then Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., in 1978. He was ordained deacon in 1977 and elder in 1979 in the Northern New Jersey Conference of The United Methodist Church. He has been married to the Rev. Anne Anderson Geschwindner since 1980.

Peter began his time with Albright in January 1992, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. He continued his service through April 1999, including terms as vice chair and chair of the board.

Peter then served as Director of the Pastoral Care Program at RiverWoods Senior Living Community from April 7, 1999, to April 2, 2001. Next, he moved into his decade-long role as Vice President of Fund Development until January 31, 2011. Then Peter served as Vice President for Mission Enhancement until June 30, 2011.

Peter left Albright in July 2011 to become pastor at Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. However, he returned to RiverWoods in the summer of 2014 to serve as chaplain.

When asked what drew him back to RiverWoods, Peter said, “I have cherished the mission and ministry of this organization from the first time I visited ‘The Home’ way back in 1984. And I’ve always said that I have a personal investment in our maintaining the highest level of care because one day I may very well find myself a resident here!”

Peter experienced first-hand many changes over the years, including two corporate name changes, the opening of Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community in York and the transition of CEO’s.

In October of 2017, the garden at the Memory Care Residence at RiverWoods was dedicated to the Reverend Peter F. Geschwindner by former President & CEO at Albright, the Rev. Seneca Foote and his wife, the Rev. Rebecca Foote. At the dedication ceremony, Seneca said, “The thing that makes the space come alive are the people who serve, and the staff here are a symbol of what is magical about communities.”

Peter announced his retirement effective June 30, 2018. He will be greatly missed by the Albright family, as he offered compassion and care to the residents and staff of the entire corporation, in addition to having a significant impact on the expansion of the Fund Development program.

The Rev. Peter F. Geschwindner is a shining example of being called to serve, and Albright is proud that he is part of our family.
