Over the past four weeks, the Council on Finance & Administration has been working diligently to evaluate and identify our next steps as a conference regarding the transition in the office of Conference Treasurer/Comptroller. After much conversation and consultation with the General Council on Finance & Administration, we have decided to hire an interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will care for the Conference Treasurer and Benefits Officer duties, while we continue to craft new job descriptions and perform a nation-wide search for a long-term replacement.
Today we are pleased to announce that Joni Way has been hired as Interim CFO.
Recently retired from the Kentucky Conference where she had been serving as the Treasurer and Benefits Officer since 2013, Joni is a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of experience. She has performed financial reporting for Fortune 200 companies, including Yum! Brands, the parent company of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC.
In 2011, Joni earned a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries from Asbury Theological Seminary and left the public sector to help launch Revolution Church (revolutionky.org) in Louisville, KY, a Conference sponsored new church start. Joni has a keen sense for details and numbers and can’t resist solving a puzzle. We look forward to working with Joni to bring our Finance Department through this transition. As a resident of Dallas, TX she will work onsite and remotely. You may contact her via email: jway@susumc.org.
For those waiting on statements and reports and those eager for online access, we hope to deliver that information as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through this challenging time. Questions about this transition may be directed to the President of CF&A, Rev. Dr. Timothy Baer at tbaer@susumc.org.
We are glad that Joni made herself available to serve our conference. Your prayers for her and the Finance Department would be deeply appreciated.
With You In Christ’s Ministry,
Jeremiah J. Park Timothy R. Baer,
Resident Bishop President, Council on
Finance and Administration
